Privacy Policy for Discount Appliance Hub

We built Discount Appliance Hub to cut through the noise of appliance shopping. We test refrigerators. We tear down washing machines. We find the deals. We do not run a data brokerage. This privacy policy explains exactly what happens to your information when you visit discountappliancehub.com. No legal jargon. Just the operational reality of how we handle your data.

Effective date: May 24, 2026.

The Data We Actually Collect

You browse our teardowns and reliability rankings. We collect very little personal data during that process. If you submit a question through our contact form about a failing LG compressor or a Whirlpool control board, we ask for your name and email address. We need that to reply. That is it.

We do not scrape your hard drive. We do not ask for your physical address. We do not want your phone number.

When you leave a comment on a review, WordPress collects the data shown in the comments form. It also logs your IP address and browser user agent string. This helps us detect spam. We get hit with hundreds of automated spam comments daily from fake appliance warranty companies. Logging this basic connection data allows our spam filters to block the garbage and keep the comment section useful for real technicians and homeowners.

How We Use Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These tools show us the signal in the noise. They tell us which guides get read and which ones get ignored. If five hundred people search for Samsung ice maker repair and land on our site, we know we need to test more Samsung ice makers. If everyone bounces off our Bosch dishwasher review after ten seconds, we know that article needs a rewrite.

Analytics track your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit. This data is aggregated. We cannot see your specific name tied to your browsing history. We use this telemetry strictly to improve content quality. We spot blind spots in our coverage. We fix them.

We do not use analytics to build a psychological profile of you. We use it to figure out if our kitchen appliance package guides actually solve your problems. Better data leads to better testing. Better testing saves you money.

Cookies and Tracking Infrastructure

Our site places cookies on your browser. Small text files. Basic web infrastructure.

They remember your preferences. They keep the site fast. They help us count visitors.

We use two types of cookies. Functional cookies keep the website running. If you leave a comment, you can opt-in to saving your name and email in cookies. These exist for your convenience. You do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.

Analytics cookies allow Google to compile the aggregated traffic reports we mentioned earlier. You can block them. Your browser settings give you total control over cookie storage. If you disable them, the site still works perfectly. You can still read our warnings about specific GE control boards. You just have to re-enter your email if you leave a second comment.

Third-Party Services and Affiliate Links

We link to external retailers. When we find a massive discount on a Thermador range, we link to the store selling it. If you click that link, you leave discountappliancehub.com. That retailer has its own privacy policy. They track your purchase. They handle your transaction.

We do not see your credit card number. We do not see your shipping address. We only see an aggregated report showing a purchase happened. This tells us our recommendation was helpful.

Read their policies. We hold no responsibility for their data practices. Once you click away from our domain, you operate under the rules of that specific retailer. We vet the appliances. We do not vet the internal server security of every big-box hardware store on the internet.

Data Retention and Security

We keep your contact form emails in our secure inbox. We delete them when the conversation ends. We do not build massive marketing lists. We do not sell your email address to third-party warranty scammers. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

We secure our server with standard SSL encryption. The lock icon in your browser means the connection between your computer and our server is encrypted. We update our plugins. We monitor our hosting environment for unauthorized access attempts.

Absolute security does not exist.

Any website claiming they can guarantee perfect data security is lying to you. We take practical, heavy-duty steps to protect the minimal data we hold. If a breach ever occurs that exposes your email address, we will notify you within 72 hours.

Your Rights Over Your Data

You own your data. You have rights.

  • Right to Access: You can ask us what personal data we hold about you. We will export a file and send it to you.
  • Right to Rectification: If we have your name spelled wrong in our comment system, tell us. We will fix it.
  • Right to Erasure: You can demand we remove your comments from our articles. You can request we delete your emails from our inbox.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You can ask us to stop using your data for specific purposes.

Send us an email to exercise these rights. We process these requests within 48 hours. No friction. No endless automated loops. A real human reads the request and deletes the data. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Children’s Privacy

This site is for adults buying heavy machinery and troubleshooting high-voltage appliances. We do not target children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian discovers a child submitted data to us through a contact form, contact us immediately. We will purge that information from our servers without hesitation.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on this site include embedded content. We embed YouTube videos from appliance repair technicians to show you exactly how a compressor fails. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites collect data about you. They use cookies. They embed additional third-party tracking. They monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website. If you watch a YouTube video on our site, Google tracks that view. We do not control Google’s tracking infrastructure.

Changes to This Policy

Technology changes. Privacy laws shift. We update this page when our operational practices change. We do not send annoying pop-up notifications for minor typo fixes. If we make a massive change to how we handle your email address or analytics data, we will post a clear, unmissable notice on the homepage.

Check back here periodically. The effective date at the top of this page tells you exactly when we last revised these terms.
